The short version

This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and has no tracking pixels. Browsing these pages does not build a profile of you, here or anywhere else.

We do hold personal data about you once you write to us, book a stay, or check in. This page explains exactly what, why, and for how long.

Who we are

Soccs — Lisbon Rentals Unipessoal, trading as Lisbon Rentals Chiado, is the data controller. We operate under Alojamento Local licence nº 324778/AL at Rua da Misericórdia 67, Misericórdia, 1200-271 Lisboa, Portugal.

For anything on this page — including a request to see or delete your data — write to bookings@lisbonrentals.pt. That address reaches a person, not a queue.

What this website puts on your device

One thing: your choice of language. When you pick EN, FR or IT, the browser stores a single value under lr-lang so the site still speaks your language on the next page and the next visit.

It stays on your device. It is never sent to us, it is not a cookie, and it identifies nobody. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

The contact form

The form on our contact page does not send anything to this website. It opens your own email app with the message written out, addressed to us. Nothing is transmitted until you press send in your mail program, and what you typed never touches our server.

Once you do send it, we hold that email — your name, email address, and whatever else you chose to include, such as a phone number, dates or number of guests — in our mailbox, so that we can answer you. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us.

The same applies if you message us on WhatsApp: the conversation sits in WhatsApp, which is run by Meta under its own terms.

What our web host records

Like every website, ours runs on a server that keeps access logs: the IP address making the request, the time, the page asked for and the browser used. We do not use these to identify visitors. They exist so that faults can be diagnosed and attacks spotted, and they are kept on a short rolling basis by our hosting provider.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site running and secure.

The one thing we load from elsewhere

Our typefaces come from Google Fonts. Loading them means your browser asks Google's servers for the font files, and your IP address is visible to Google in the process. That is the only third-party request these pages make.

We mention it because it is the sort of thing privacy policies usually leave out, and because it is the one point at which visiting this site tells a company something about you.

The availability calendar

The search on our home page shows which apartments are free. It reads only the start and end dates of existing bookings from our reservation system. Guest names and reservation numbers sit in fields the site is written never to read, so no guest's details are ever published to a visitor's browser.

When you book

Bookings are not taken on this website. The Book buttons hand you to Ynnov, our reservation system, which collects your booking details and has its own privacy terms. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.

If you book through Booking.com, Airbnb, Expedia or another travel site, that company collects your details first and passes us what we need to host you, under its own policy.

What reaches us is your name, contact details, dates, number of guests and any requests you made. The legal basis is performance of our contract with you.

At check-in

We ask every guest named on the booking for photo identification. Portuguese law obliges accommodation providers to record guests and to report the identification details of foreign guests to the authorities. We do this because we must, not because we want the data.

The legal basis is compliance with a legal obligation.

Who else sees your data

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. It reaches other companies only where it has to:

Our reservation system (Ynnov) and payment processor (Stripe). Our email and hosting providers. The travel site you booked through, if you used one. The Portuguese authorities, where the law requires it. Our accountant, for invoices.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become bookings are deleted once the conversation is plainly over. Booking records and invoices are kept for as long as Portuguese tax law requires. Guest registration data is kept for the period the law sets and no longer.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, ask for it in a portable form, or object to our using it. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

Write to bookings@lisbonrentals.pt and we will answer within one month. There is no charge.

If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (cnpd.pt). We would rather you told us first, so we can put it right.

Children

Children are welcome as guests, but bookings are made by adults and this site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from a child other than the name and age a parent gives us when booking.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we change this page and update the date below. We do not notify past guests of changes, so if this matters to you, it is worth a look before you book again.
